NEWCOMER SETTLEMENT PROGRAM
The Newcomer Settlement Program helps newcomers successfully settle, get fully involved in all aspects of life in Ontario and contribute to Canadian society. The program helps Newcomers, immigrants and refugees to fully engage in all aspects of Canadian life in their respective communities. Program services are available to all newcomers including permanent residents, regardless of their Canadian citizenship status and refugee claimants.
Services provided include but are not limited to:

Needs assessments to identify and assess newcomer needs

Information/orientation as well as workshops on settlement issues like housing, employment, accessing government services and programs

Referrals to community resources

Interpretation and informal translation services

Practical assistance in filling out OHIP, SIN and other application forms, booking appointments

Supportive counselling and accompaniments

Volunteer training and development
-
Computer Training
-
Workshops & Information Sessions

Community development activities

Mentoring and training
Services are provided in English, French, Arabic and many African languages and dialects.
The program serves newcomer groups including families, adults, youth and seniors from diverse ethno-specific communities mainly from newcomers of African descent as well as those from other regions including those that speak French and Arabic.
