ISAP Settlement: English/Youth

The Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP) is a federally funded program that provides direct and essential settlement services to newcomers to help them with their adaptation and settlement process. The ISAP Settlement youth program at ACS is targeted mainly to newcomer and immigrant youth between 13 and 24 including convention and government assisted youth and their families, temporary residents and work permit holders as well as Live-in Caregiver program participants.

 

Services provided include:

  • Newcomer reception services

  • Initial needs assessment

  • Newcomer orientation/information sessions

  • Interpretation/translation

  • Employment Services

  • Solution-focused counselling

  • Information and orientation on immigration, health, education and housing,

  • Translation and informal interpretation and application forms

  • Referrals to government and community services and resources

 Information sessions are also held on issues of interest including such as money management and budgeting, self-esteem and self confidence building, housing, employment Standards, Job Search, parenting & the school system, Canadian workplace environment and culture, health, personal care, nutrition, Fire & Safety, police/community relations etc.
