Position RESOURCE MOBILIZATION MANAGER
Position Type: Full-time (35 Hours /Week) + Mandatory Benefits

African Community Services of Peel is a non-profit community-based charitable organization that serves the settlement needs of the Black/African community in Peel. The agency’s offices are located in Brampton. We are currently looking for a qualified person to fill the position of Resource Mobilization Manager. As part of the senior management team and reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent will work closely with the management team to support the organization in the planning, development and management of its resource mobilization activities. The overall goal of the program is to enhance the agency’s resource development and diversification capacity for long-term growth and sustainability.
Specific responsibilities of the Position:

Review the agency’s current resource development and programming structure to identify gaps and opportunities/assets.

Identify agency’s resource needs including organizational, administrative, financial, human capital and stakeholder relationships management needs
-
Develop and maintain funder and other resource databases and consistently share their contents with the Executive Director
-
Research and identity key potential funders/donors, in-kind supporters and other stakeholders, funding opportunities and working with the Executive Director, spearhead proposal development efforts in accessing quality grant in strategic priority areas
-
Identify innovative means of supporting current funding relationships and support the Executive Director in writing and submitting grant applications
-
Monitor and maintain funding applications and generate monthly reports to the Executive Director.

Identify the agency’s digital capacity building needs and develop key digital training programs for agency staff, board and volunteers
-
Organize and deliver digital literacy training sessions to staff on key management and service delivery areas
-
Identify and develop key strategies for building ACS’ brand visibility and value proposition to enhance its stakeholder relationships
-
Develop and execute an outreach and communication strategy to enhance ACS visibility.
-
Leverage existing agency assets and develop a five-year resource mobilization plan with established benchmarks and targeted outcomes.

Complete program evaluation, prepare and submit program reports
Qualifications and skills:
-
A University degree in social work or related field and/or 5 years of relevant work experience in the Not-for-Profit sector
-
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, networking and communication skills
-
Excellent leadership, coordination and relationship building skills
-
Current knowledge of the funding landscape, issues and strategies for attracting new funding with proven competency in grant management, monitoring and evaluation practices
-
Proven knowledge of resource mobilization, organizational review and programming practices and processes
-
Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute program plans and ideas.
-
Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of, and sensitivity to issues relating to the black/African in Peel including anti-black racism.

Demonstrated ability to design and deliver knowledge mobilization and organizational capacity building skills training programs
-
Demonstrated ability to research, write grant applications and generate program reports
-
Strong teamwork, self-motivation and innovative skills, with capacity to work independently and meet deadlines.

Proven skills in developing, maintaining and monitoring information databases
The position is for a fixed term of two (2) years. Renewal thereafter based on availability of Funding.

Strategic Planning Project

African Community Services of Peel is an incorporated not-for-profit community-based settlement service agency whose mission is to improve the quality of life of the newcomer community in Peel by providing them with the support, information and services necessary for healthy integration into Canadian society. The agency’s mandate is to identify and address challenges associated with duality of cultures among newcomers, provide programs and services that promote cross-cultural understanding and address barriers to communication, integration and access. Project Description
African Community Services is looking for a qualified Consultant to help the agency develop a 5-year Strategic and Sustainability Plan to enable it chart its strategic direction for the next five years. The Strategic Plan will ensure that the agency’s management, programming and sustainability goals continue to enhance its relevance to its constituent target community and the community at large and that it has the capacity to effectively address current and emerging constituent community service needs.
Goals of the Strategic Plan

Enhance the agency's administrative, governance and programming capacity

Help the agency position itself strategically as a major and valuable partner in the delivery of settlement and Newcomer services to residents of Peel and the surrounding area.

Enhance the agency’s risk identification, management and mitigation strategy

Enhance the organization's management, programming and financial sustainability
Project Activities
The main activities will include but not be limited to:
-
Striking a Strategic Planning Committee to work with the Consultant in ensuring successful implementation of the Strategic Planning program.

Conducting an Organizational Review
-
Developing a 5 Year strategic Plan and Implementation Plans
-
Presenting the Report to the Agency’s Board of Directors for approval
The consultant will:
-
Complete a comprehensive stakeholder interview process and analysis with ACS’ stakeholders including clients and volunteers, staff, funders and donors, Board representatives and community members. The objectives of these interviews will be to gather input and stakeholder perspectives on Stakeholders’ views and perspectives on ACS’ financial, programming and management performance
-
Conduct a 360 scan of the organization’s management, programming and financial structure, mission and mandate. This will include Reviewing ACS’ current goals, vision and mission, current programming, internal capabilities, available resources, funders’ strategic needs and government policies.

Identify the agency’s key organizational and programming needs and gaps
-
Review the agency’s organizational policies, mission and mandate
-
Conduct an environmental scan to identify agency’s strengths, organizational management, financial and programming risks
-
Review and update (if necessary) all the agency’s policies including the Constitution and By-Laws
-
Identify key programming, management and financial priorities
-
Develop risks mitigation strategies for the organization
-
Conduct board and staff training workshops and develop training manuals
Key Deliverables

A well-researched and workable five-year strategic plan for the organization for the period 2022-2026

A concise and well- defined mission, vision and values of the Organization

Well-articulated short, medium and long- term goals and objectives of ACS.

A realistic programming strategy in alignment with identified community needs.

A well-articulated implementation policy for the strategic plan with annual action plans

A long-term growth and sustainability plan for the organization.

A Strategic Plan evaluation and monitoring tool

Position Strategic Planning Assistant

African Community Services of Peel is a non-profit community-based charitable organization located in Brampton. The Agency provides settlement and community programs to newcomers in Peel. We are looking to hire a Strategic Planning Assistant to provide support to the Strategic Planning Consultant in the development of the Agency’s 5-Year Strategic Plan for the period 2022-2026. While reporting to the Programs Manager, the incumbent will work under the guidance of the Consultant and assist in implementing strategic planning activities as required by the Consultant. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and able to perform the activities required of the position and will work from our Brampton office virtually and on-site if possible.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Consultant with the successful full cycle of Strategic Planning Project’s assigned projects from initiation to completion
• Assist in developing Strategic Planning tools including questionnaires and surveys
• Research and identity key agency stakeholders
• Recruit strategic planning participants
• Organize focus groups using social media tools including Zoom, Teams, and other platforms as advised by the Consultant
• Assist in data collection and analysis as required
• Provide focus group facilitation assistance
• Perform tasks required by the Project Manager in support of project needs
• File all project documents appropriately (hard and soft copies) as required by the Consultant
• Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
• Maintain strict confidentiality of the project and of the Organization
• Schedule strategic planning appointments and meetings
• Attends staff and strategic planning meetings
• Creates presentation tools including PowerPoints and other presentations
• Assist in the evaluation of the Strategic Planning activities
• Perform other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Community College Diploma in community/social work or relevant education and experience in office/program administration
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
• Ability to work under supervision and to follow instructions
• Ability to multi-task on a regular basis and to pay close attention to detail Proficiency in the use of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Exhibits a friendly and professional demeanor.
